Eight weeks of hard work has now all been paid off. For the production I was a Maori girl doing the poi. I really liked it. When I was practicing it seemed really complicated, I almost hesitated to do it. Eventually I started to enjoy it. Mrs Hobbs sister Tracey taught me how to do the two poi in one hand. I found that fun to do. Poi practicing was a challenge that I had to face and not hide from. I recommend that if there is anyone that wants to do an emotional dance the poi will be perfect. When you use the poi in dances like Kapa Haka the poi are meant to be graceful so the slower you can get and stay in time with the beat of the song. I love swinging the poi. Maori dancing and performing is my favourite thing to do.
